The Black Knights will be holding summer meetings at the Solid State Depot. Meetings will be every Wednesday 6:30-8:30, running from May 29th to August 7th.
Team members planning to attend need to RSVP on Meetupfor each meeting.
- Build two insect weight combat robots. These will conform to the SPARC Rules, and the plan will be to battle them at STEAM Fest in Spring of 2020.
- Tool Training. SSD has several cool and dangerous tools that we want team member to be empowered to use. Throughout the summer there will be training offered on SSD’s: Wood CnC Router, Metal CnC Mills, Laser Cutter, Manual Lathe, 3D printers, and general power tools.
- CAD Training. Using CnC machines and 3D printers require transforming a design into something that can be understood by a computer. We’ll teach the basics of OnShape for designing parts, and Fusion 360 for transforming those designs into instructions for CnC machines and 3D printers.
- Programming Practice. We’ll upgrade the software from last year’s robot to get our vision, and automatic elevator positioning working. These upgrades will be debuted at Energy Day in September, where the team will compete in a scrimmage against other local teams.
These summer sessions are optional meetings for improving team skills are preparing for next year, and are not required for participating in the team.
